The defect potentially allows the exterior trim components to loosen or detach entirely while the vehicle is in motion, creating a significant road hazard for other drivers and pedestrians.

According to InsideEVs, the root cause of this safety concern has been traced to a technical issue with a specific assembly jig used during the manufacturing process. This equipment failure prevented the primer on the rear side quarter window trim from curing properly, which ultimately weakened the adhesive bond intended to secure the trim to the vehicle body. Ford is currently coordinating with dealerships to manage the recall and provide necessary repairs to impacted owners to ensure the components are permanently secured.
